System Rules v1.3

Welcome to the official rules compendium for the Pocket Cards RPG system.

Part 1: The Trainer

Trainers use dice (2d6). They have three stats:

  • BODY: Athletics, throwing balls, endurance.
  • MIND: Knowledge, technology, medicine.
  • HEART: Charisma, bonding, animal handling.
Core Mechanic Roll 2d6 + Stat vs Target Number (DC).
7 = Easy | 9 = Moderate | 11 = Hard | 13 = Heroic

Part 2: Pokemon Combat

Use your physical trading cards.

  • HP: Use the printed HP.
  • Attacks: Use printed attacks.
  • Energy: 1 Symbol = Instant. 2+ Symbols = Charge Up (Attack next turn).

Part 3: Catching

To catch a wild Pokemon:

  1. Weaken it (lower HP).
  2. Use an Action to throw a ball (Roll 2d6 + BODY).
Capture DC:
Green HP: 15 (Impossible)
Yellow HP: 10 (Hard)
Red HP: 7 (Easy)

Part 4: Town & Economy

Currency: Yen (¥). Earned by defeating Trainers (~¥500).

  • PokeCenter: Free healing.
  • Potion (¥200): Heals 20 HP.
  • Pokeball (¥200): Standard catch rate.

The Static Shadow Module 1

The official campaign module for the Oakhaven Region.

Prologue: Glitch of Oakhaven

Synopsis: Players receive starters from Prof. Spruce, fight a "glitched" Rattata, and destroy a signal repeater in the woods guarded by a Glitched Boss.

Chapter 1: Static Peaks

Synopsis: Players travel to the mountains to find the source.

  • Rival Battle: Fight "Blue" on the way out of town. (Tutorial for Trainer Battles).
  • Obstacle: The Broken Bridge (Skill Check challenge).
  • Dungeon: The Old Power Station.
Boss: The Grunt Uses an Electabuzz. The room deals 10 damage per turn (Electrified) unless the Grunt is tackled or the generator stopped.
